shaped baby card

Hello everyone,

I hope you are having a good weekend wherever you are and are having better weather than we are here in Manchester. It started raining on Friday and doesn't seem to have stopped since then. I mustn't grumble though because the gardens really need the water and some drought ridden areas of the country would be delighted to have a wet period.

I'm still busy working on the wedding scrapbook and will share some pages when it is finished but today I want to share a card I made for the 'A Cut Above' course. We were asked to make a shaped card and were shown how to weld shapes together on the Silhouette Cameo. I followed the instructions to come up with this new baby card for some friends who have just had a baby called Alfie.

I decided that the card would make a cute new baby card but didn't have a suitable sentiment so I typed one on the computer and printed it so it would appear in the round aperture. It is difficult to see in the picture but I inked up a circle around the sentiment on the liner using a mask. I stuck the cut out heart onto the inside of the card and stamped Alfie's name on it, before using Papertrey Ink BB Twinkle to stamp a background on the card with versamark ink to give it a little more depth and interest.

I coloured a gem with black copic marker for the eye and tied a little bow with some twine attached to a tiny tag to finish it off.

I'm really enjoying this course and will definitely come up with something for each of the lessons when I have more time.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs
Carol x

This is really sweet. I have a thing for bird houses (in paper, anyway), and it is fabulous as a shaped card. Great idea to make it a baby card. It seems like Manchester is always on the tv here in my house, and I am not surprised to hear about your rain, as whenever Premiere league is on, it always seems to be raining!
