Papertrey Ink So grateful for you card

Hello everyone and a very warm welcome to Tracey, Silke and Kara who are new followers this week. With England out of football the cup competition my attention has turned to Wimbledon and there have been some amazing matches this week. They really seem to be getting the hang of the roof now so it has been great to have play going on well into the evening.

A kind neighbour popped over yesterday with three big punnets of strawberries so whilst some have been eaten watching the tennis, I've just made the rest of them into strawberry pavlova because we have some friends coming for dinner tinight. Before I start on the main course cooking, I wanted to have a go at the new challenge over at Less is More. The challenge this week is to make a card taking the Less is More blog header for inspiration

"Less is More"
I was inspired by the colours, sentiment frame and  flourishes to come up with this card:-

Well I'd better get back to the kitchen but I'll have more time tomorrow to look at all the great submissions.

Thanks for stopping by.

Papertrey Ink hexagon card

Hello everyone and a warm welcome to Barbara, Cumbrianlass and Viv who are new followers this week. I can't believe 100 people are now kind enough to follow my little blog from cold, wet Manchester! Anyway today is the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop so we get to visit talented card makers and get lots of inspiration!

The task this time was to use this inspiration picture
June-blog-hop
I love these colours and wanted to make a hexagon cushion card using the gorgeous new hexagon plate from PTI.  Sadly, because of the very expensive shipping costs to the UK, my order buddy and I cannot get supplies every month so I'll have to wait for it. In the end I turned to my Silhouette Cameo and was able to use one of the files to cut some little hexagons and then use existing supplies to make the card:-

I used to have a hexagon shaped patchwork cushion just like this in a different colour. I used a scroll stamp from Vintage Labels and fixed a pretty flower in the centre. The sentiment came from Botanical Silhouettes. Some AM twill ribbon was stitched across the centre of the card. On the first attempt, I tried pleating the ribbon but it made the card too busy so I went for the plain look.

Thanks for looking and enjoy the hop!

Papertrey Ink pass driving test card

Hello everyone and a big welcome to Rachael and Sarah who are new followers this week. Well the cold weather continues and the rain has been so heavy that lots of people are on flood alert at the same time as having a hosepipe ban imposed because of drought! Oh the irony of it all. At least the bad weather is encouraging me to stay indoors crafting when I would otherwise be tempted outside so there are some compensations.

The challenge over at Less is More this week is to use paper piecing on a card and this I came up with a flower power bug

I had trouble with the lights because I wanted them to be shiny brake lights instead of clear headlights and I didn't have an appropriate gem. To get round this I punched a circle of pink card and stuck it on the lights before adding a dome of glossy accents. I wasn't sure if the pink would show through the clear dome but it turned out quite well:-

Do pop over and see the great inspiration on the LIM blog and thanks for looking.

Papertrey Ink birthday card

Hello everyone and welcome to Lynda and Katina who are new followers this week. The weather in Manchester has been wet, windy and cold for ages and I've even resorted to putting the central heating on, which is a sad state of affairs for June! Oh well, when the good weather eventually comes, I'm sure we'll all appreciate it so much more.

The challenge over at Less is More this week is to make a CAS card that has some shine. I came up with this card using my new PTI Trendy Tree Tops stamps which are gorgeous.

I kept the card very simple with brown and aqua mist ink and some brown card to make a small mat. The ink looks almost black in this photo for some reason and the shine on the red heart doesn't show very well, but you can see it a little better in this one :-

I need to make a bunch of birthday cards and this was so easy to replicate. Do take a look at the LIM site to see all the great entries.

Thanks for looking

Papertrey Ink birthday card

Hello everyone and welcome to Lynn and Melissa who are new followers this week. I really appreciate everyone who follows and visits or leaves sweet comments, it is so good to know I am not just blogging to myself!

I am having a very busy weekend with friends here for dinner last night, out at some other friends tonight and then helping at an open garden event tomorrow, so I was determined to take some time this afternoon to make a quick card for  the Less is More challenge. This week we were asked to make a single layer card and to use a flourish on it with the minimum of embellishment. I was kidding myself to think it would be quick! One layer cards are so hard for me and I had lots of spoiled efforts head their way to the recycling bin before I managed an unsmudged version.

I stamped the leafy flourish from Papertrey Ink in spring moss ink and then added the roses and sentiment in red poppy. It is difficult to see in the picture but I embossed all the red elements to give a little more interest to the single layer.

I so wanted to layer this image up and add some ribbon but I followed the rules and walked away from the table!

Thanks for looking and enjoy your weekend.

Papertrey Ink birthday card

Hello everyone and a happy Jubilee weekend to you.

The bunting is flying around here and despite the disappearance of the sunshine, things are feeling pretty festive. We are off to the Wirral tomorrow to celebrate with friends and watch the Royal River Pageant with a glass or two of fizz, and then we are having a neighbourhood garden party on Monday where much cake will be eaten. I would not describe myself as highly patriotic but I feel so lucky to live in a country where we are free to express ourselves, and where our ethos is to ensure that people have free access to healthcare, basic education and the ballot box. The news from other countries this past year has only heightened this feeling despite the economic gloom.

The challenge over at Less is More this week is to celebrate the Jubilee by making a card that is red, white and blue, and I whipped up this little card that fits the bill

I stamped the plaid stamp on the base card and cut a 13/4 inch circle from the top panel and stamped the greeting before embossing it with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder, and rounding one corner. I added a die cut red heart which I covered with glossy accents for a touch of shine as it is such a special occasion.

The top panel was raised on foam to give a little dimension.

I also made a quick card that was based on one I made for the card pack  a little while ago. This was an acceptance to the Jubilee afternoon tea garden party on Monday, and continues the red white and blue theme.

Thanks for looking and I hope you have a fabulous weekend.
