Table Settings for Papertrey Ink Blog Hop and Easter Card

Blog-hop-logo

Hello everyone and I hope you had a really good weekend and are ready for another week.

Today is the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop and we were asked to use monograms on a project. We had a taste of spring last week for a couple of days and it put me in mind of Easter, so I made a little place setting for my daughter, Laura, for Easter Sunday Lunch.

This was the place card made with the place card die and harvest gold card embossed with white ink.

Next came the napkin ring just made with a strip of card, topped with circles made with Limitless Layers Circles

Then a little favour box for some little choccie treats

I had a big problem with the card cracking on this box. I ended up making three before deciding it would have to do because I couldn't waste any more precious PTI card stock. I tried just folding the lines that the die had scored, and then re scoring them with my bone folder, and lastly used my scoreboard and an embossing tool. All three cracked so if anyone has tips on how to overcome this I'd be grateful to hear them.

I finally stamped a sunflower image onto a paper napkin to finish the place setting.

Now I just have to make sets for the rest of us and add some spring flowers and we will have a pretty table on the day.

I also made an Easter card in the same colours although this doesn't have a monogram. Perhaps I should have put one on the tag.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the hop.

Papertrey Ink Valentine card

Hello everyone and a very warm welcome to Scrappin Time Gal who is a new follower this week. I hope you will find something to interest you here and it is great to have you visit.

Well, the festivities are over at Papertrey Ink and I had a lot of fun following along with the challenges. I was delighted that blogging friend Joyce won a prize of $300 to spend on her wish list, and the win was well deserved because she put so many great cards in for the challenges. So well done Joyce!

I'd like to share the Valentine card I made for my DH

I haven't had time to look round and see if it will fit into any challenges, but I enjoyed making it. I used my new Limitless Layers hearts and the birds from Tweet Talk, along with some pretty ribbon left over from Christmas.

Thanks for stopping by.

Papertrey Ink watercolour card

Anniversary-logo

Hi again,

My second card for today is another watercolour card. I painted a background on watercolour paper, let it dry and then stamped the beautiful poppies from Botanical Silhouettes.

An embossed sentiment finished it off because I didn't think it needed further embellishment.

Thanks for looking.

Papertrey Ink watercolour card

Anniversary-logo

Hello everyone,

The challenge today over at Papertrey Ink is a very scary one for me. They want us to use watercolours on a card and as I was told at school that I would never make an artist and should go and do needlework instead, painting has always terrified me. However, I have a tin of Inktense watercolour pencils that had not yet been used so I set to and had a go.

This card is very simple. I just stamped the flowers from Flower Fusion 3 in black waterproof ink onto watercolour paper and then watercoloured over each flower.

A sentiment and a few gems finished it off.

Thanks for stopping by.

Papertrey Ink New Home Card

Anniversary-logo

Hello again,

The festivities are continuing over at PTI and today we were asked to use a sketch from a selection provided. Some friends of ours have just moved house after waiting almost 3 years!! for their old house to sell, so I wanted to make a card for them.

I used a simple sketch and came up with this card using the Love Lives Here house die in 3 different

colours on a Hawaiian Shores base. The sentiments were embossed in white and I swiped white ink lightly on the edges of the panel. A simple bow finished it off and it will be in the post today. 'Nuff said!

Thanks for looking.

Papertrey Ink Gift tag

Anniversary-logo

Hello again,

It may not have escaped your notice that Valentine's Day is coming up so I made a simple little gift tag to attach to a gift.

I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to emboss the central panel and added the little hearts. The sentiments are from Heart-2- Heart #11. Simple and sweet.

Thanks for looking.

Belated birthday gift

Hello everyone,

Are you following the anniversary celebrations over at Papertrey Ink?

Anniversary-logo

They are having a challenge each day and I am trying to play along so there may be a some very brief posts over the next few days.

Today's challenge was to make gift tags or wraps and I came up with this little belated birthday pot of sweets

I used the jar so that it will be of use after the sweets have gone and experimented with a chalkboard label cut from the PTI Placecard die. I used a chalkboard marker to stamp on the label so that it can be wiped off by the recipient and they can write on whatever they want to store at a later date. It took ages to get it to stamp properly so I wouldn't necessarily recommend trying this unless you have plenty of time to keep wiping it off and trying again but the end look is lovely.

Papertrey Ink Year of Flowers birthday card

Hello everyone, and a very warm welcome to Maria who is a new follower  this week.

Today I have a card to share for Day 6 of the Clean and Simple cards class and also for the Year of Flowers challenge over at Papertrey Ink's 6th Anniversary celebrations
Anniversary-logo
I used the Morning Glory stamp and embossed it in white before using Copics to colour it in.

I tried a new technique of stamping the main card greeting in Ocean Tides die ink and then stamping and embossing the greeting on the flower panel before matching them up. I added a little glitter to the flower centres but it isn't showing up on the photo for some reason.

I quite like how it turned out.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend.

Birthday Cards for Clean and Simple Card Class

Hello everyone,

Its Friday and I hope you all have a great weekend. I spent yesterday at a craft show and attended a couple of workshops that had me trying things that are outside my comfort zone. I actually went to a sewing workshop! Yes I did! My sewing machine now looks a little less scary and maybe I will at last try using it for something other than an occasional quick row of stitching on my cards.

I'm still playing catch up with the Clean and Simple Card class, and I have to admit to finding it very hard to fit in when the class is every day for a couple of weeks. Lessons twice a week would probably be ideal for me and then the class would go on over several weeks which would extend the fun.

The first card was for Day 3 which was using background stamps and inking techniques. I chose to use a
Tim Holtz stamp that just has three rows of curvy stitching on it to make up my background panel. I used a technique that Jennifer showed of using three inks to get 5 different tones of colour, but I don't think this stamp showed the results very well and a more solid stamp would probably give a better finish. I added a light brushing of white ink around the edges to give a softer look.

I also used 4 different dies on the card to cover the homework for the Bonus Day 1 which was to use die cutting. Sneaky or multitasking? I think this card could cover a lot occasions such as Valentine, Anniversary or close friend or family birthday, so I shall add the appropriate message on the inside before sending it.

The next card is also for the Bonus Day homework, and to join in the anniversary celebrations over at Papertrey Ink. For this I used the Zipper Die from PTI to make an interactive card. The colours were inspired by the pretty pink tone on tone invitations that Danielle Flanders used.

I cut the die shape from Melon Berry card and cut the edge of the zipper part to make it easier to lift the zip once it is on the card. Then a piece of Sweet Blush card was masked off for the part that will show the sentiment when the zipper is pulled back. I stamped the background with a crackle stamp to get a tone on tone look and then stamped the words in brown ink.

I added a branch and the little bitty bird, and then swiped all the edges with some white ink to soften everything. I added a few little doodads on the zipper panel too when I probably should have 'stepped away from the table'. As a result there seems to be so much going on in this card that I'm not sure it can count as Clean and Simple, but I did enjoy making it.

Papertrey Ink Birthday cards for Clean and Simple card class

Hello everyone and a very warm welcome to Kristie who is a new follower this week.

I am still trying to catch up with the Clean and Simple Card Class part 2 so here is a card I did for the Plainly White class. This doesn't have to literally mean white, it means having space on the card that is empty, and I came up with this simple card

I stamped the images in white ink and coloured in the leaves with a Copic marker before dotting around a few little stars which I blinged up with a some glitter. The sentiment was embossed in white on a ribbon banner.

Day 5 was about using the same stamps in different ways. I used a stamp set by Maile Belles and came up with this card

which I embossed with black ink and then coloured with Copic markers before matting it onto scarlet jewel card.

We were reminded in class that images do not always have to be coloured in and the same stamp set was used for this very simple card

I added a little tag in the right hand corner to add a little balance to the card.

I am learning a lot in this class and just wish I had more time to join in.

Thanks for looking in.

Hugs
