Papertrey Ink Birthday Card

Blog-hop-logo

Hello again,

I'm back for a second time today to join in the February Blog Hop over at Papertrey Ink. This time Nichole gave us some photo inspiration

February-blog-hop

'Your challenge this month is to create a spring themed project!  Whether you use a fresh spring color palette or use spring imagery, pull out all the stops to help elude the winter blues!'

I was drawn to the green and lilac colours of the muscari bulbs and the mixed colours of the tiny eggs, and as I had a birthday card to create for my friend Anne, I came up with this card:-

The stamps used are from Reasons to Smile, Think Big Favorites #13, and Birthday Basics. The tab at the top is part of a Fillable Frame, and the ampersand was cut on my Silhouette Cameo. The other dies are from My Favorite Things and Lil' Inkers Designs. The colours used are Limeade Ice, Plum Pudding and and Lavender Moon.

Enjoy the hop!

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge 'reindeer'

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

Hello everyone, and a very warm welcome to Bine,  from Germany and Traci, all the way from sunny California, who are joining us as new followers this week. Isn't it great how crafting and blogging brings us together from all corners?

Today is the day for a new challenge over at Holly Jolly Christmas and this time the theme is 'reindeer'. This challenge is sponsored by Meljens Designs and I used one of their cute images called 'Dancer' for my card.

I'm sure this reindeer thinks she is an English Morris Dancer with the bells and what looks like clogs instead of hooves! In fact, is that accordion I can hear? I stamped a snowflake background and cut a little hill which I covered with glitter so they could dance in the snow. I cut out and coloured the right hand reindeer first, but I couldn't  leave her dancing all by herself like Dancer no mates, so I flipped and enlarged the image slightly to give her a dancing partner, and here they are, bowing to each other before the fun begins. A little matting and some glitter on the snowflakes finished it off. The sentiment was created on my computer.

I'd like to enter this into the Christmas Challenge 'the most wonderful time of the year',

My Perfect Life, festive 48, and Crafty Hazelnuts challenge to use a sentiment on the card.

Thanks for stopping by, and why not pop over to HJCC to see what my teamies have created.

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge ' Snow much fun'

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

Hello everyone,

It's time for another challenge over at the Holly Jolly Christmas challenge blog, and this time our hostess is Cindy and our sponsors are

Fitztown

and

Art by Miran

The challenge is 'snow much fun and I came up with this card;-

I had fun with this one and went through a lot of versions before I ended up with this:) I really wanted to emboss the acetate but I did not have a heat proof version so it just buckled when I used the heat gun. My white staz on ink had gone weird in the bottle and came out a murky grey, so I had to settle for Brilliance Moonlight White ink which dried in a couple of hours. It isn't as bright as embossed snowflakes would have been, but I'm quite pleased with the results. I stamped inside the card with the word 'snow' in pale blue ink and die cut and stamped the word 'snow' for the front.
It wasn't easy to photograph, but here is a front view, although it reflects the flash!

Whenever I make an acetate card, I'm always unsure of where to write the personal greeting, but on this one it can be written on the back or inside behind the die cut.

I do hope you'll join in our challenge - why not drop by  the Holly Jolly blog to see the talent of my fellow teamies.

I'd like to enter this into the Christmas cards all year round challenge - use blue and white,
Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas challenge - anything goes, and the Brown Sugar challenge to use a die cut or a punch.

Thanks for stopping by.

Papertrey Ink wedding/anniversary card

Anniversary-blog-header

Hello everyone,

I'm back for what will be the last day of PTI Anniversary challenges:(

This time Nichole asked us to make a card and envelope combo, but time was tight for me so I used another of the sketches from yesterday and came up with this card

which could be for a wedding or anniversary. I used the Propose a toast stamps and die and limeade ice card and ink along with some chamomile ink for the champagne.

For the envelope, I cut a liner and stamped it with an Impression Obsession star background stamp.

For the front of the envelope I used the Simon Says Stamps Envelope Sentiments stamps, and here is the finished combo.

I'd like to enter this into the Creative Romance challenge 'let's get sentimental',
and Brown Sugar challenge which is to use a die cut.

I've really enjoyed these challenges and I'm so pleased that I manged to play with every single on!!!

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you all had a wonderful Valentines Day.

PTI Building blocks birthday card.

Anniversary-blog-header

Hello everyone,

Well we are nearing the end of the PTI Anniversary festivities and Nichole gave us a doozy of a challenge today. We had to randomly select building block elements from lists that the Design Team gave us to design a card that could be way out of our comfort zone. We could only re select an item if we didn't actually have it. I came up with the colours Hawaiian Shores, Berry Sorbet, New Leaf, and White. I got the occasion - Birthday; technique - heat embossing; embellishments - ribbon and rhinestones, and sketch number 1.
Dawn-Sketches

This sketch was very similar to a design I made earlier in the week

T

but I decided to follow the rules and see if I could come up with something that looked different.

I cut the panel  from white card and stamped flowers randomly to create a background in the chosen colours. Melon berry is a colour that I always have problems with as it always seems to look a bit muddy to me when I use it, but I love HS and New leaf. I inked around the panel with HS to soften the harsh white, before adding some ribbon. For the base card, I stamped various birthday greetings in Versamark ink down the right-hand side, and then fixed the panel on foam tape to give some dimension. I cut a little banner die and stamped and embossed the sentiment in white before scattering a few rhinestones to finish it off.

Even though I'm still unsure about the Melon Berry, I'm quite pleased with how different from the earlier card this turned out. Stamping the panel rather that using DP really helped there I think.

I'm going to enter this into the Handmade Harbour challenge for something bright and happy.

Thanks for stopping by.

PTI Anniversary Stripe birthday card

Anniversary-blog-header

Hello everyone,

I'm back again with today's contribution to the ongoing Papertrey Ink anniversary festivities. Today Nichole asked us to make a project using stripes in some way, and I came up with this one :-

I took a panel of aqua mist card and embossed it with the stripe impression plate. I then cut one of the Banner Border dies and stuck it to the aqua card before using one of the stitches dies at the top. I then stitched with jute twine before sticking the panel onto my base card. I added a strip of kraft card which I cut some banner ends into, and topped it with the Boutique Borders: Birthday stamp and die. I couple of little buttons and bows finished off a girly card destined for one of my neighbours next week.

I tell you that doing such a lot of PTI cards in a short space of time has highlighted my lack of organisation. I really need to label everything - especially the dies, because it has taken nearly as much time tracking down the name of the dies as it has writing these posts:( I feel some organisation time coming on!

I'm also going to enter his into Creative Card Crew - Keep it Simple and Sweet

and the 2 sisters challenge to use embossing.

Thanks for stopping by.

Papertrey Ink Anniversary celebrations 'word' card

Anniversary-blog-header

Hello again,

Wow, two posts in a day - I may need to go and lie down in a darkened room for a while! This is a quick post for today's challenge which was to make a word, or sentiment the focus on a card. I came up with this one:-

I used one of the 'Happy' dies, embossed it with the canvas impression plate, and stamped the birthday part. Some patterned paper and a few stars, glittered with Wink of Stella finished off this simple card. I'm so glad I've had some time to play along this week, but so many people have made up to 5 or 6 cards a day that I feel very slow!

Thanks for stopping by.

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge 'card for a child'

Hello everyone,

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

The time has come for another Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge and this time Julie is hosting and asking us to make a card for a child.

I decided to make an interactive card because children love to have something to move, push or pull on a card don't they? I went with a zipper card

with the idea that the child can pull back the zipper strip to reveal the phrase underneath - in this case 'let it snow'.

I also added a double tag with a snowman stamped on the bottom one so that it will be revealed when the top tag is moved

and here is the finished card.

I used my favourite snowman stamp that is called Scribble Snowman - I just love his cheery, happy smile, and I cut him out and mounted him with foam tape. I coloured him simply and added some Polar White Flowersoft for some fur on his hat. The arrow points where to pull and I cut the first part of the zip with a craft knife to make it easier for the child to pull.

I'd like to enter this into

Christmas Cards All Year Round which is to use only blue and white.

Crafty Hazelnuts challenge anything Christmas.

Crimbo Crackers Christmas Happiness.

Papertrey Ink 7th birthday

Anniversary-blog-header

Hello,

Happy Birthday Papertrey!

I'm back again with my second card for the Papertrey 7th birthday celebrations. This time the card has a CAS feel to it which I am a bit more comfortable about.

I used tiny leaf stamps from Sending You to make the border, and the Big Birthday wishes stamps again for the sentiments.

This could be for an anniversary or birthday.

Papertrey Ink 7th birthday card

Anniversary-blog-header

Hello everyone,

I hope you had a good weekend and are ready for another week. I have a couple of posts today, purely because I don't know how to link 2 cards from the same post for a challenge!!! If anyone has a trick for that I would love to know.

We are continuing the festivities for Papertrey and today we were asked to make a a burthday card for them. As you know  if you are a regular visitor, it is very rare for me to make a card that doesn't have Papertrey products so I am VERY happy to make a card for them, and I certainly wish them all good things for the future.

I made this card first,

using the Garland Border stamps and dies and Big Birthday wishes stamps. I backed it onto some hibiscus burst card and added some twine and a button,. The number was cut with a Sizzix die and glittered with Wink of Stella.

I wasn't too sure about it when it was finished, as it seems a bit busy but I am trying to do a mix of things these days, so thought I would post it anyway.

Thanks for stopping by.

PTI Anniversary trading card

Hello everyone,

Anniversary-blog-header

I'm still playing along with PTI Anniversary festivities and today we were asked to create a 3x4 inch flat trading card. I've never made one of these before but I came up with this one

I took a 3x4 piece of autumn rose card and stamped a heart prints stamp in scarlet jewel ink. I then masked this off and stamped with the Impression Obsession scratches background stamp in versamark ink. I removed the mask and embossed the card with a Sizzix texture plate, before swiping the edges with white ink. I cut a double ended banner and added the heat embossed sentiments, before finishing it off with a few little hearts.  Not my usual style, but I quite enjoyed stepping out of my comfort zone.

I'd like to enter this into the 2 Sisters challenge which is to use embossing, and the Addicted to CAS challenge where the codeword is LOVE.

Thanks for stopping by.

PTI 17 minute challenge

Anniversary-blog-header

Hello everyone,

The festivities continue over at Papertrey Ink and today we were asked to make a card in 17 minutes! Well this was a real challenge for me as I like to faff about, moving things round and taking my time, but I had a go. All I can say is thank heavens for dies and paper trimmers!

I used One liner dies 'Happy', polka dot basics and big birthday wishes as well as lots of scraps of card.

I'd also like to enter this into The PixieCrafty Workshop challenge. Its my first time playing along but I used such a lot of snippets that thought I would have a go.

Thanks for stopping by.

PS I forgot to say it took me 15.5 minutes. Yaaaay!

Papertrey Ink Valentine

Anniversary-blog-header

Hello everyone,

Have you been following the Papertrey Ink 7th Anniversary celebrations? There is a lot going on with challenges and free downloads, so I recommend scooting over there to have a look. Today's challenge was to use an image from this year's free download and make a card. You can enter multiple times (and so many people have!), but I only had time to make one card today, and here it is

I used Heather Nichols' image and cut it down to an irregular shape and made it into a Valentine/Anniversary card.  I added a heard border with the heart border die and a sentiment from Boy Basics Out of this World, before finishing it off with some glossy accents on the hearts. The base card was impressed with the Lil' Inkers stitched rectangle die. I used Scarlet Jewel Ink rather that bright red ans black card because I think it makes it a bit more masculine, and this one is destined for my DH next week.

I am also going to enter this into the Male Room challenge for a masculine Valentine, and at Sue's kind suggestion, I am also entering it into the Stamping Dragon 'love is in the air' challenge.

Thanks for stopping by

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge 'Gift tags'

Hello everyone, and a very warm welcome to Cindy who is joining us as a new follower this week.

Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

It is time for our new challenge over at the Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge and this week Judy is hosting a 'Gift tag' challenge, which is being sponsored by Bugaboo.

I used their Santa's sleigh tag

On this one, I just printed it on to cream card, cut it out, inked the edges and finished it with a gem for Rudolph's nose and some twine.

For this one, I made a gift card holder and used some embossing paste and a stencil to add some texture. I then printed the tag twice, once onto plain card and once onto patterned paper, before cutting them out and layering them with some foam dots. Another gem ( I feel a compulsion to add one whenever I see a reindeer!), and some ribbon finished it off.

This one was printed and the centre tag was cut out and layered onto a different shaped tag to give an elegant black and white look with some fancy ribbon.

For my final item, I took the tag image into my Silhouette Studio software and was able to isolate Santa and his sleigh and enlarge them before cutting them out on my Cameo.

I then made a simple Christmas card to match that last tag, by cutting some hills and embossing them with a snowflake embossing folder, and adding a sentiment. I have to say I am still loving my Cameo, and I really enjoy seeing what I can do with the software. There is no way I could have fussy cut all those reindeer!

Here they are all together:-

I'd like to enter these into

Thanks for stopping by.
