Clearly Besotted Poinsettia Christmas Card

Hello everyone,

Sorry I've been a bit absent for a while but I'm still a bit under the weather and my motivation is still awol!

However, following on from the amazing Stamp Launch Blog Hop at Happy Little Stampers,  we are now ready for the October Christmas Challenge.

This time the theme is Poinsettia and I came up with this card

I die cut 3 flowers, one in card and two in vellum using the 'Pretty Poinsettia' set from Clearly Besotted, then stamped the solid flower in red ink on the white card for the base. On the large vellum poinsettia, I stamped and embossed the outline flower in white, so the red flower could peep through, and then embossed the smaller solid stamp on the top flower. I curled the vellum flowers before I stacked them together to give a little dimension, and then added a circle of pearls in the centre which I coloured with a Copic marker.

The red panel was cut with a My Favorite Things Blueprints die and the greeting, from Happy Little Stampers Mixed Christmas Sentiments, was stamped and embossed in white. To finish is all off, I covered a plain A2 card with some patterned paper from Papertrey Ink and mounted the panel on it with some fun foam.

This is beautiful Carol and I love your use of vellum with the card for the poinsettia which stands out so prettily against the red with the sentiment in complementary white too. The background paper with the pretty multi coloured stars is just perfect as it enhances but doesn't detract from that gorgeous poinsettia. So sorry you haven't been feeling at your best lately. Hope it soon passes but it hasn't affected your card making that's for sure. x

Love all the layers on this beautiful poinsettia. The blaze of red under the vellum really looks scrumptious. Hope you start to feel much better real soon. It's hard to feel motivated to do anything, when you're feeling poorly. Take care, and TFS. Hugs

What a gorgeous card. I love all those layers, especially the vellum, and the red is so very striking. Love that you made the flower white and background red--a nice twist on the tradition. Hope you are feeling better by now.
