Penny Black and Clearly Besotted have a delightful day card

Hello everyone and welcome to another challenge over at Addicted to Stamps and More. This time we have our popular CAS challenge

I have been enjoying the spring so far and this particular stamp reminds of spring with the pretty flower, and the love theme brings to mind the Tennyson quote 'In the spring a young man's fancy lightly turns to love'. Anyway, I came up with this card

1) Stamp the mice stamp from Penny Black Hugs set in black versafine ink and emboss with clear embossing powder.
2) Colour the image with alcohol markers. I used the Spectrum Noir Illustrator pens which I really like.
3) Die cut a stitched rectangle and stamp the sentiment from Clearly Besotted Delightful Day stamp set in blue ink.
4) Die cut an aperture in the panel using one of the My Favorite Things Stitched Arch Stax dies.

5) Glue the rectangle over the image and raise it onto a base card using fun foam.

I used this sentiment because I thought I could use it for engagement, wedding or anniversary by putting a further sentiment on the inside of the card - I love a versatile card!.

I hope you will be able to join in with us this week. You'll find lots of inspiration from the team over on the ASTM blog, and you can link up your entry there too!

I'd like to play along with

Hero Arts Be Happy card

Hello everyone,

Yay, another Friday has rolled around and we have another holiday weekend to look forward to. The weather around here is not too wonderful at the moment but I am hopeful that it will pick up over the weekend. We were supposed to be going to a barbeque at a friend's house tonight but the weather has put an end to that so it will be supper inside instead!

I saw that

Hero Arts Logo

are having their Spring Sketch Challenge, and as I have never entered a Hero Arts challenge before, I decided to play along

sketch_challenge_500

I chose to use the bottom left hand side sketch with the tag on and came up with this contribution

I decided to die cut a tag aperture in the card and place the tag inside. I inked the Papertrey Ink tag with a couple of blue distress inks and then stamped and embossed the flower image on top. The stamp is from the Hero Arts Poetic Prints Blossom Etchings set which I have had for many years and it was good to break it out again. The stamp has a very short flower stem and as I needed a longer one for this project, I extended it with a fine tipped pen. I watercoloured the flower with distress ink, and added some glitter in the centre to add a little bling. A sentiment from Wplus9 Fresh Cut Florals, along with a couple of dots, finished the inside.

On the front of the card I stamped the Hero Arts cling Lattice background stamp and embossed it with clear powder for some shine and texture. I finally added a PTI die cut sentiment which I coated with a layer of Wink of Stella glitter brush pen.

I would also like to enter this into the

Blog Hop for Marybeth

Hello everyone,

Today we are saying Belated Happy Birthday to Marybeth from Marybeth's Time for Paper.  I was delighted when Joyce and Cathy (who kindly organised the blog hop) asked if I would like to join in because I get to join everyone in showing Marybeth some love and much deserved appreciation. I found Marybeth when I took part in my first Blog Hop and loved the card she showed. Since then I have been a regular visitor to her site and really like the variety of inspiring projects she shares. Marybeth has been sweet enough to encourage me in my card making endeavours, and I always smile when I see her name attached to a comment on my blog. Marybeth's birthday was actually earlier this month but we are hoping  that this "little" hop will make today special for her too.

I hope you had a lovely birthday, and that you have a great day today, Marybeth. I decided to make a card for you with Papertrey Ink materials because I first came across you on their site. Well that's enough from me - rush off and see the goodies from everyone else.

Papertrey Ink Special day card

Hello everyone,

Its Day 8 of the Summer Card Camp and for homework today I am making another card with the suggested colours and sketch 3. I took inspiration from the card Julie showed us and I punched one hole in the card and put patterned paper behind it before punching out a set of different sizes of circles and patterns. I die cut and stamped a butterfly, made a little tag for the sentiment, and wrapped some ribbon round for added interest.

I placed the panel on a mat and added a few little pearls to finish it off. I'm really enjoying this class and spending some time back in the craft room.

Thanks for stopping by.

Balloon card

Hello everyone,

I'm back for Day 4 of the Pattern Play Class

and today we were asked to alter patterned paper again, this time using glitter, glossy accents and enamels etc to provide interest and detail.

I took strips of patterned paper and added glitter to the centre of the little flowers and used the Whimsy Balloon Die set to cut some balloons, which I altered with glitter and glossy accents. I wanted to try enamelling the centre of some of the flowers but liquid enamel is still on my wish list, so I experimented with some domes of liquid applique which I glittered before heating.

and I was really pleased with the dimension. Its so good to find a use for this that doesn't include snow!

I tried drawing in some balloon strings but I couldn't get them to look right and then I had inspiration and pulled out my Memory Box Prim Poppy Die from Dies to Die For and used the stems with the flowers cut off.  The bow is from Papertrey Ink Bells and Boughs and

the very cute tiny little bows on the balloons are bow ties from the PTI Man and Wife die set. I had so much fun putting this card together and I really like how it turned out. I'm going to enter this into the Dies to Die for challenge  which this time has a spring theme and my happy balloons certainly remind me spring is coming, if not actual Easter Eggs! I am also going to enter it into the Simon Says Stamps challenge which is a spring/Easter theme.

Thanks for looking in.

Papertrey Ink Day 9

Hello everyone,

This is day 9 of Papertrey Ink's anniversary celebrations and I have really enjoyed playing along with the challenges. Of course it would have been great to win one of the prizes, but I'm quite pleased that I have been able to squeeze cardmaking into some busy days. My lovely daughter will be be 30 in a couple of weeks and is going to have a party, so I have volunteered to do the catering. I had a bit of a panic thinking that I had bitten off more than I could chew, but now I have got some of the dishes cooked and in the freezer, I feel it is more manageable.

Today Nichole asked us to make a card with butterflies and leaves on and this is what I came up with:-

I saw the idea of using the Sending You Die for an aperture on Kara's blog on one of the Papertrey Blog Hops. Stamps used were from Butterfly Dreams, Harvest Berries, Round and Round and Signature Greetings.

I'm also going to enter this into the challenge at Crafty Pad Designs which is to use something on the card beginning with the letter B.

Thanks for looking

Papertrey Ink special day card.

Hello everyone,

Its a gloomy grey day in Manchester, so I've spent some time making a card for the Papertrey Ink  Make it Monday challenge, which is to use heat embossing on a card.

For this one I cut an aperture on the front of some white card and softly inked the edge of the aperture with some aqua mist ink. I then used the star dies and cut a large star in aqua mist card and placed it on the back of the card, centrally behind the aperture and stamped and embossed a sentiment from Birthday Basics. You can click on any of the photos to enlarge them.

Next came 2 medium star die cuts in white card that I stamped and embossed with 2 images from Star Prints. I sandwiched these together with some crochet thread to hang it on the aperture with.

I placed it centrally over the AM star and stuck it with some tape so it dangled nicely. I then needed to hide the tape so I cut a couple of holes in the front of the card with my ribbon punch and passed AM dotty ribbon through them to hide the tape and tied it in a bow. I finished it off by stamping and embossing a sentiment from Star Prints on the front.

I couldn't get a good shot of the shine of the embossing but the sheen on the ribbon comes out quite well. Here is a shot of the closed card lying flat.

I hope you have a great day and thanks for looking.
Hugs
