Papertrey Ink Birthday Card

Hello everyone,

I've been a lax blogger of late but I have a longer post than usual to try and make up. First an update on the lovely ducks who have been visiting us. When I last reported, Mother Duck had hatched 10 ducklings who were swimming around our little pond. The following day, they managed to scrabble out of the pond and follow Mum around the garden to have a stroll and explore.

The day after that, one of the ducklings disappeared and even with 10 ducklings to care for, Mum knew that one was missing and it was so sad to hear her calling for it for more than an hour.  The next day four more disappeared whilst we were out but the family remained with 5 ducklings until she took them away, we know not where! I hope it was to somewhere safe with a large pond so the remaining ducklings can survive to maturity and maybe visit us again next year. Nature can be very sad.

who sent me a mound of stamped images using PTI's Wreath for all Seasons after I admired the cards she made with them. She also sent a beautiful card (the background is shimmery and my photo hasn't picked that up),

and a set of stamps that will be very useful come Halloween this year. Thank you so much Margaret, it was a wonderful surprise to come home to, and I will make good use of these images.

And finally I have a card that I made for this weeks Make it Monday challenge over at Papertrey Ink. Erin Lincoln has a video showing the reverse masking technique on the blog which is very useful. I wanted to try a colour combination of Lemon Tart, Aqua Mist and Enchanted Evening :-

I used Vintage Labels stamps and made a mask by cutting out the centre before over stamping and clear embossing with Background Basics Text Style. This was then cut out with Nestabilites Labels 1 die and matted onto another mat. I punched 2 circles for the sides and added buttons and bows. For the centre I used the Beautiful Blooms die and a daisy punch, finishing off with a gem. The border was made with the Victorian Lace die, and the sentiment was from Enjoy the Ride.
