Paper Trey Ink and Avery Elle Birthday card

Hello everyone and welcome to the June Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media Challenge, and this time our theme is 'texture', so we really get to play and have some fun!

I love the monochrome look and I pulled out a few things from my stash and came up with this card.

I started by cutting a stencil using the Papertrey Ink Harlequin Cover Plate, and I applied some Sweet Poppy texture paste through about two thirds of it. As our theme is texture, I was careful not to get the finish too smooth, so there were some depressions and raised bits on the surface. Once the paste had dried, I applied colour using my Copic airbrush and three pens of toning colours. My first coat was very even and masked the texture so I applied a couple of further coats with the airbrush at different heights so I got a more splattered/textured look.

After I cut the stencil, I had lots of diamond shapes left so I stamped three different patterns using the PTI Happy Harlequin stamps and stacked three together to give some dimension, before adding them to the card.

I stamped and embossed the greeting from Avery Elle Brushed, in white embossing powder on tropical teal card and fussy cut it before adding it to the panel on foam tape. I stamped a few splatters and dots, trimmed the panel down and cut a stitched rectangle with a die from Lil' Inkers to mat it onto with some fun foam.

I do hope you will join in with us this time. If you hop over to the Happy Little Stampers blog you will gets lots of inspiration, and links to some tutorials on using mixed media techniques. You never know - you might even win our prize
