Kylie's 12 Days of Christmas Cards Challenge
If like me, you are up to the ears in preparation for Christmas, and haven't finished making your cards yet, you would be advised to pop over to my friend Kylie's blog for some fabulous inspiration. Kylie is the powerhouse behind the Addicted to Stamps/Addicted to CAS/ Happy Little Stampers Challenges as well as deigning and producing her own fabulous stamp line. She is currently running a 12 Days of Christmas Card Challenge and I was delighted when she asked me you join her today.
I came up with this card
I took a square panel of white card and cut the poinsettia die from the Tim Holtz Mixed Media Christmas dies. I put red card behind it and die cut it again in green so I could inlay the holly leaves around the poinsettias. I stamped and embossed the 'Merry ' from Happy Little Stampers Everyday Sentiments in red before adding a couple of other words from the set in greern ink.
I coloured the centres of the flowers and then added some glitter. I usually like lots of white space but in this case, the card looked quite stark, so I masked off the middle with a circle and used a Clarity Stencil Brush to brush on some red ink and spotlight the centre of the card. I die cut and shaped a couple of holly sprigs from Papertrey Ink and added a few pearl berries before fixing them to opposite corners of the panel. All that was left was to layer up the panel and adhere it to the base card on foam tape. The foam tape and pearls make this less post friendly, but this one is for hand delivery so it doesn't matter.
