Hello and welcome to another challenge over at Simply Create Too. This time you can throw caution to the wind because no twist is necessary to play along this month.
My youngest son is a great collector of vinyl records and has been known to do a spot of DJ-ing from time to time, so when I saw this die set from My Favorite Things, I had to have it. This is the birthday card I made for him:-
I found some retro-looking double-sided card in my stash and made the card base with it. The whole thing folds flat, and the sentiment on the top is from the MFT Chalkboard Greeting stamp set which I embossed in white and cut out with an oval die.
I decided to make it a double-deck - DJ style, and cut the records from some glossy black card. I cut the arms from mirror card and used brads to anchor them so you can actually move the arms across the records (little things please me, sigh... )!
I loved playing around with this card and it really took me back to my first record player. It was a second hand Dansette with a pink top and I loved it with all my heart. Sadly, the arm wouldn't actually touch the record and just hovered above it, so I had to tape a coin to the arm to weigh it down so it would make contact. Sometimes the tape would fail and send the coin jumping across the record leaving a scratch, but I thought it just added character to the sound! I was so easily pleased back then lol!
Anyway, if you pop over to the SCT Blog, you will find lots of inspiration from the team, and you can link up your entry over there too. I do hope you will join us this month.
I'd like to play along at
Thanks for stopping by
Hugs

This is brilliant Carol, so clever and I bet your Son loved it. We never updated our hi-fi from the 80's so I still regularly play my records!! xx
This is so CUTE!!! Love the double turn tables. FABULOUS male card!
What a fantastic card for your son Carol!...and boy does it bring back memories...and as they say we are now going full circle and vinyl is coming back again. I think you have put a lot of thought and love into this card! xx

Brilliant card for your son, my two buy lots of vinyl too, love the turntable, thank you for joining in at MMM.
Wow, that's a terrific project! AMAZING! Thank you very much for joining us over at Moo Mania & More! Susi xxx
OMGosh Carol, you have taken me back in the day! lol I remember many having to tape a penny to the arm of the player to get it to touch the record. I didn't get a record player until I was much older, but loved it when I got one. How fun your youngest son loves vinyl records, I hear they are making a come back, how fun is that?! I love that he DJ's sometimes too, so this card for his birthday is just perfect and I adore it! Well done and thanks for the trip down memory lane. Hugs, Brenda

What a fun and unique card. You obviously made it with love and it brought back a lot of memories for you (and me x). Love that the arm actually moved (on the card) and also loved your memory of the coin on your actual arm of your deck x.
Your son will love it and it's a keeper! x You are genius x
