Crafters Companion and Penny Black Christmas card

Hello and welcome to another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More

We have our Christmas Challenge this time, so I came up with this card.

I used an old and underused Crafter's Companion snowflake embossing folder and inked one side with distress oxide ink. This left the snowflakes white, and I was quite pleased with their texture after embossing them. On this occasion, I used heavy watercolour paper and I'll try that again, but I made the mistake of die-cutting the stitched rectangle after emossing, which flattened the snowflakes a little.

The sentiment is from Penny Black. I cut it several times in white card and once in navy and stacked it to give a chipboard effect. I  pressed a Versamark inkpad over it and triple clear embossed it, which gave the glossy finish I wanted. The camera didn't pick this up well, but you can see it better in the small photo at the top.

We're continuing to have wonderful weather in my neck of the woods but my gardening husband is concerned that the lack of rain is affecting the lawn and plants in the garden. I wonder if we need to consider more drought-tolerant plants if this trend continues. That would be a big change for Manchester's reputation of being a rainy city!

As always, my talented Design Team friends have inspiration cards for you to see on the ATSM Blog, and you can link up your entry there, too.

This is great. I love the way the central snowflake sits in the centre of the o. Your little gem is the perfect finishing touch. I bet it is even lovelier in real life with the embossed shine. You could try putting the embossed panel back in the folder after you die cut it and running it through again. That should plump up the embossing again. It's interesting to hear that dry weather is affecting you up in Manchester. We are used it it here in East Anglia, but it has been exceptionally dry and the garden is struggling. Last year we had to get used to it being exceptionally wet! xx

LOVE your gorgeous snowflake background, Carol. I don't usually get such wonderful results when I do this technique. I must give it some more tries. :) The NOEL is lovely and shine, with lots of depth. Great card! xx

Such a beautiful card! Love the look of embossing the folder in blue so the white snowflakes are a contrast!

Wow, that embossed snowflake background is so lovely and your shiny die cut sentiment sets it off perfectly, Carol. I have a friend who endured a summer on water restrictions, but had a vegetable garden. They were even limited to one load of laundry per week per person. So her hubby rigged up a hose to drain the final rinse water out of her washer into a big tub to use that water. And they also bought those bio-degradable packaging peanuts to cover the soil as they break down to water. Hope you get some rain! xoxo

Beautiful card Carol - so clever to have that big snowflake bang in the centre of your O!!
We're having the same lovely sunshine here too, makes a nice change! Usually you all are enjoying fabulous weather in England and it's chucking it down in Northern Ireland LOL
