Papertrey Ink Christmas card

Hello everyone and a very warm welcome to Groovy Grommit and Sadilla who are new followers this week. Gosh this weekend whizzed by and I can't believe its Monday already. Our choir was singing at the Buxton Festival on Saturday, and yesterday we were up near Burnley helping out some friends who had their garden open to visitors for the National Garden Scheme. I wouldn't like to count how many cups of tea and cream scones I served up in the day, but the visitors all seemed happy with their time in the beautiful garden despite a few rain showers here and there.  The worst thing for me was that it coincided with the Wimbledon men's final with the first British man in the final for 74 years. And I missed it!!! Even though Andy Murray lost, I'm told that he played very well and I have the match recorded so I will still get to watch it. It won't be the same though....

The busy weekend also meant that I had to wait until this morning to join in the new challenge over at Less is More. This week was a colour challenge and Chrissie and Mandi asked us to use gold on a card. I didn't have any gold ink for stamping and my gold embossing powder is is called 'old gold' and when I tried it one white card it didn't look too good so I opted to make a black card :-

I die cut and stamped the tree in versamark ink and used gold perfect pearls over the top. This looked too shiny and didn't match the embossing powder I used for the sentiment so I rubbed the perfect pearls with paper towel to dull it a little and give a more distressed look. I stamped and embossed the candle baubles and raised them on foam to give a little dimension. I'm not sure that I like this one - a black Christmas card doesn't seem very festive somehow!

I'm starting a new on line stamping class today so I may be back more often in the next couple of weeks to share some of the things we make.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs
Carol x

If you don't want it I'll have it!! So understated and elegant. Imagine your card for sale in one of the boutique shops in the Trafford Centre and think how much they would charge for it... yes, a lot!!
Looking forward to seeing what you have picked up from your classes. Hugs, Buttons x

I love how you got your golds to go together so well. Always a process isn't it... A very elegant tree. The black gives it a "Silent Night" feel, beautiful!
