Pinkfresh Studios Hanging Florals Birthday card

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog.

Do you ever think that you need to press a reset button on your crafting habits? I have been giving it some thought lately because I've got into the habit of letting other things take precedence and that leads me to feel less creative when I get around to taking some time for crafting. I often only sit down to make a card when I have a DT deadline and have to apply my bottom to the seat because I hate to renege on a commitment. This gives rise to a pressured and rushed session that leaves me feeling unsatisfied. It isn't as if my time is being spent in other ways that feed my soul. I'm usually busy and love seeing people again, but find that this tires me much more than it used to after staying home so much in the last 18 months. And I've been following watching/listening/reading the news much more than is good for me with all the horrific things that are happening to my fellow human beings and the planet we all share. Don't get me wrong - I think it is important for me to be informed about what is happening so I may help where I can and place my vote where I think it should go. However, it is not helpful to feel overwhelmed by things I have no control over, and it is time for me to reconsider how I am choosing to spend my time. So, I need a new start where I include the things I want to do in my day like crafting, reading, and walking. September always seems like a good time for starting again - I suppose that's a throwback to starting a new academic year, and I hope the enjoyment and relaxation of these activities will return when I prioritise time for them again. After all, at one time it was hard to get me to do anything else lol - and that was a whole different issue!

Anyway, I'd like to share my card for the new ATSM challenge - and this time we are looking for your birthday ideas.

I needed a card for a friend who is about to celebrate a big birthday, so I turned to this lovely Pinkfresh Studio stamp and die set called Hanging Florals. I cut 3 sets so I could stack them and just coloured the top one with Copic markers.

I used a Sue Wilson die set called Classic Adorned Squares for the backing layers and used the embossing die to add a little extra interest. The sentiment used Pinkfresh Studio's Perfect Sentiments stamps and dies.

You'll find lots of inspiration from the Design Team over on the ATSM blog and I know the team would love it if you visit them.

I'd like to play along at

Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs
Carol x

Oh how I identify with what you are saying Carol...100% . Everything seems to have ceased to be for pleasure these days and there is so much sadness in the world we live in. Your card however is sure to brighten your friends day with its beautiful design, colouring and the freshness it has about it. Maybe this is your fresh new start? I am sure your friend will love it.xx

The old saying, "Misery loves company", definitely holds true here. Thank you, Carol, for putting the feelings of many into words so deftly.
Your card is lovely, especially it's happy colors and design. Your friend is a lucky girl!

Great idea to make your crafting a priority! Sometimes that is the only outlet we have to take us away from all the turmoil in this world. I love your card too! It is gorgeous!

Your opening paragraph definitely speaks to me, Carol. I definitely got used to a lot of me time for creating, reading, cooking, whatever over the past several months, and now other things are starting to pull at our attention. A little re-prioritizing is needed here as well, I think.
Regardless, your birthday card is beautiful! Gorgeous colours and I love the floral wreath and all the touches of red and texture.

A beautiful card Carol, a fabulous design - very striking, it certainly doesn't look like you rushed this one - I love it.
It would appear that we can all resonate with how you are feeling, I am certainly struggling a little when I do sit down to create, I usually end up spending hours on Pinterest and YouTube and end up making nothing!

Your card is absolutely stunning Carol - Love the colours! You did an amazing job with all the shading.
And Carol I hear you... You know I spent a good few years at Practical Philosophy learning how to de-stress and take interest in things without getting too involved and bogged down by them. It's so easy to read something and spend the rest of the day angry or worried which just eats you up. Good for you that you've recognize a change is needed and I'm sure you will succeed. Big hugs

I think many of us can identify with what you are saying Carol, I know I do! I made a change into the pandemic because I was getting so stressed out. I watch just enough news to keep me informed, but not stressed. Good for you for making this change too. Your card is stunning Carol! I love that embossed frame, the wreath is gorgeous and I love how you have colored it too. It's so clean and crisp looking! Your friend will cherish is card for sure. Hugs, Brenda

I agree with everything you have said there Carol. Like you I just about manage to muster enough enthusiasm for Dt pieces and fear that without these commitments would probably not bother at all. However, I have been feeling a bit more crafty of late and have started making christmas gifts so that has fuelled my crafty engine, fingers crossed it will last!! Anyway, what a truly special card this is. The red and white looks incredible and I am sure your friend will love it xx

It seems we are all in the same boat. I am thankful I have my DT work otherwise I would be doing very little card making. Hopefully things will start to improve soon. Your card is super and I love the red and white - so clean and fresh. Thanks for sharing with us at IAAS this time. Christine DT

Totally agree with your saying, Carol. Also very hard for me lately to take time for what I love to do, I feel like I'm doing everything in a hurry and not taking pleasure doing it anymore. I don't know if you made this card in a rush, but if it is the case, you should go on that way because it turned out so beautiful ! I really love the shape of your die cut background as well as the embossing pattern. This hanging florals is just striking with the bold red over the white. Wonderful colouring with lovely dimension. I'm sure your friend loved it ! Take care, hugs x

Splendidly lovely card, Carol. Thank you for speaking straight from your heart. It is absolutely vital, IMO, that we feel safe and supported to do so in the crafting sphere (and life in general). I hope you always feel comfortable doing so here and know that your audience is behind you 110%.
