The Greetery Nordic Birds Christmas card and Stamps by Chloe Christmas card

Hello everyone, and welcome to a new challenge at ABC Christmas Challenges. This time I'm hosting and we’re working with two themes:

U for Unused Stuff

and/or

V for Violet

I have a prize for the randomly chosen winner

Woodland Wreaths from WPlus9

You can choose either theme or play along with both.

U for Unused Stuff

For this theme, I finally used my NBUS Nordic Birds dies from The Greetery. I cut the birds from white card and added colour with ink and blending brushes. The background is a white embossed panel using a Crafter’s Companion folder, and brushed lightly with blue ink to bring out the texture. I finished the card with a heat‑embossed sentiment from Lawn Fawn.

V for Violet

For my Violet card, I used the Four Petal Flower Frame from Stamps by Chloe. I stamped it onto violet cardstock and heat‑embossed it with a sparkle powder for a simple, bright finish. I used some textured card, and in retrospect, it would have embossed better on plain card, but you live and learn! The sentiment and die‑cut are from Papertrey Ink. I layered the panel onto a couple of large square die-cut mats, added a few gems and left it at that.

We hope you’ll join in with one or both themes. As always, any Christmas or winter‑holiday project is welcome, and we look forward to seeing your creations. The Design Team has some great inspiration for you on the ABC Challenges Blog, and you can link up your entry there.

I'd like to play along at

NBUS Challenge #91 - bird dies

A Cut Above Challenge October - anything with die-cuts goes

Neglected Stuff Challenge October 26 - bird dies

Holly and Ivy Challenge #213 - anything Christmas goes

Thanks for stopping by,

Hugs,

Carol x

The background EF for the Birds is so very detailed and pretty but this time the Violet card has to be my favourite, the white embossing so very fine and delicate.

Beautiful! What a "tweet" design! The birds are so detailed and the colors are lovely. That embossed background is amazing. Thanks for sharing with us at A Cut Above's October Challenge.

Love that embossed background on your first card and well done for using those bird dies. They are so cute, I hope you use them again soon. I like the effect of the embossing on the textured card on your second card. I keep coming across textured card in my stash and think I must use it more often. I saw it used recently with dry embossing too and that worked really well. It seems like a while since I last visited you. So sorry about that xx

Both cards are fabulous but LOVE your bird card and the embossed background is perfect to showcase these sweet birds. How clever to add color to the upper part for the sky! Beautiful design! Thanks so much for joining in the fun at our Neglected Stuff challenge! Good Luck and we hope you’ll come back often.

The birds are so lovely, love the texture and colours of them, and then the embossed background is beautiful, love how you added the colour to it. Your gorgeous violet card has a beautiful design and layers, love that sentiment die too. x

Both of these are beautiful cards, Carol! I love the embossing and blending of your sweet birds design and the colors of the violet Christmas card design are sensational with the schparkle! Thank you for inspiring everyone to use their NBUS! Hugs, Darnell (I'll be in touch soon!)
