Top 10 cards of 2016

Hello everyone,

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to some New Year celebrations. We had a relatively quiet time at our house with my husband getting a heavy cold a couple of weeks ago, just in time to pass it to me for Christmas Day:( I had done some advance prep and the family chipped in to help on the day, so all was not lost and a good time was had by all. I have to confess that I didn't even get dressed on Boxing Day and had a lovely, relaxing time chatting to my family and watching some festive telly.

It's that time of year when we reflect on the year gone by before we open the doors to the new year, and I have been looking back on my blog and picking  my favourite projects of the year. Here they are, in no particular order, and if you want to read a little about how I made them, you can click on the link to be taken to the original post.

1)

The first one is a sweet new baby card I made using a heart mask and then inking on some aqua ink. I love the soft colour and the stencilled hearts

2)

I bought lots of MFT supplies this year, and this amazing pig set just had to be a favourite. The little piggy peeping out at the cake just sends me away with a smile on my face!

3)

This one just might be my favourite of the whole year! I love that cute sheep and enjoyed painting a miniature sky for the background.

4)

Speaking of cute - the marching band stamp set from MFT is just gorgeous and I loved drawing dashed lines to create a road up the hill for them to march on in this card. A marching band can celebrate so many occasions and I really must pull it out again soon.

5)

Now I know this one isn't a card, but I really loved this recycling project and was so chuffed with how it turned out. It's amazing what some paint, stamps and stencils can do for a pot I almost threw out! Here it is with the plant that inspired it.

6)

This year I experimented a bit more with mixed media techniques and this one was made with the shaving foam and alcohol inks technique.

7)

This next card just makes me feel happy and reminds me of warm summer days in the garden. I loved inking the clouds in the sky, and the fonts on the sentiment are gorgeous.

8)

This one used texture paste through a stencil and it was the first time I tried painting dried texture paste with Zig watercolours. Love how it turned out.

9)

Yellow and brown was an unusual choice for a baby card, but I really like how this one turned out.

10)

My final card was made for the Happy Little Stampers new launch blog hop and I love this beautiful flower from the Especially for You set.

Well that is my first trip down memory lane, and I'll be back tomorrow for a look back at my favourite Christmas cards of the year. I'm hoping it will inspire my mojo which has gone AWOL, even though I have some new crafty goodies to play with!

Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs

What an absolutely lovely selection of cards Carol. They're all so pretty I couldn't actually choose a favourite however I do like the effect of the zig markers on the texture paste. Sorry you weren't feeling too well at Christmas. It does sound as if you had a happy family Christmas and I hope you're now feeling much better. Barbxx

I'm so sorry to hear about the Christmas colds, Carol. That really is rotten luck! Thank you for rallying to bring us your favorite beautiful works of art for last year and thank you for not asking me to do it, because I couldn't have narrowed my favorites down to just ten!! Happy New Year hugs, Darnell
