Hello everyone and welcome to the September challenge at Happy Little Stampers Watercolour Challenge. Anything watercolour goes on our challenge, but each month we have an optional twist you can play along with and this time the twist is 'butterfly'
Our winner for this challenge will receive a $20 coupon to spend at the shop! Check out all the details HERE.
IF YOU USE STAMPS BY HAPPY LITTLE STAMPERS AND YOU ARE OUR RANDOM WINNER, YOUR PRIZE WILL BE DOUBLED!
I used the twist and came up with this card that uses an ombre background.
1) Take a piece of watercolour paper and paint an ombre wash on it without smoothing the paint too much so it leaves some brush strokes visible.
2) Once the paint is dry, die cut the Papertrey Ink Shape Shifter Oval 1die and also die cut a white stitched oval to act as a frame on it.
3) Stamp and white emboss the sentiment from the Altenew Sakura Blossom stamp set onto the ornate frame.
4) Die cut a couple of the butterfly shapes from the My Favorite Things Flutter of Butterflies die set from watercolour paper and watercolour the solid one for the background. Apply Versamark ink the detailed butterfly and white emboss it, shaping the wings while it is still warm.
5) Adhere the butterfly to the panel, raise it with foam tape onto a stitched, scalloped rectangle, and then stick it to the base card.
6) Finish off by adding some white Nuvo Drops. ( I was just feeling pleased with myself for managing to get graduated size drops for the butterfly trail when a person, who shall remain nameless, leaned over my shoulder and remarked ' Oh why are you adding butterfly poo to your card?' I don't think I'll ever be able to look at this card in the same way again lol!
Over on the HLS blog, you will find that the team has left lots to inspire you, and you can add your card to the gallery there too.
On that note, me and my butterfly poo will take our leave.
I'd like to play along with

Hi Carol,
Such a beautifully composed card! Very elegant. I love how you created the turquoise oval and distinguished the white frame. White accessories look stunning
This card is so beautiful. I love the blue wash of color behind the white butterfly. It makes the butterfly just pop.
I LOVE that color wash of blue on this. The vellum butterfly just flies off the card. Such a stunning creation!!

Beeeeeeeeeeeautiful dies to pop that ever so gorgeous butterfly on Carol. Love the background wash and the whole ombre effect. Especially proud of your butterfly 'poo' I thought they were real pearls. I'm always scared after making a card I spoil it with odd shaped 'poo'.
Wow Carol, this card is stunning! I love the colors you used, but I am really loving that shape that you have your butterfly on. The ombre watercolor effect is just stunning. I also love that beautiful butterfly you used, the Nuvo drops make a great trail. Hugs, Brenda
