Crafter's Companion Accordion Get Well Card

Hello everyone and welcome to the first challenge of the year over at Addicted to Stamps and More. Last year the ATSM challenge went from strength to strength and we had so many wonderful entries it was always hard to choose the winners, so I hope you will feel inspired to join in with us again. The first challenge is a Photo Challenge and we have this lovely photo to get the mojo humming.

I took inspiration from the daisy and from the colours to come up with my first ever accordion card using my new dies:-

1 Cut 2 square accordion card bases from white card (I used a Crafter's Companion Die).

2 Cut 2 star square accordion overlays in white and adhere them to the bases (I used a CC star overlay die)

3 Cut off one of the extra joining tabs and score all score lines well with a bone folder.

4 Stamp and emboss the Creative Expressions Daisy Heart stamp on white card, colour with alcohol markers and use a glaze pen on the centres of the daisies.

5 Stamp the sentiment in the upper part of the heart with the Penny Black stamp from the Hugs Transparent stamp set with black Versafine ink. Cut the stamped card down so it fits onto the accordion base and adhere it down.

6 Stamp the greeting from Papertrey Ink Tucked in: Get Well on white card and then cut it out with a My Favorite Things Diagonal Stitched Square die. Draw round the edge of the base square with a pink alcohol pen and adhere the sentiment to the centre.

7 Finish the card by sticking both halves of the card together and attach the centre panels to each other by gluing them at the tab.

Well there were quite a few steps here and it took a while to work out how the accordion card fits together, but I quite like how it turned out. One problem I found was that the back of the base cards were marked and indented by my well used die cutting plate, so the back of the card looked rather unattractive. I didn't want to double cut and fit a false back onto the card, so I used a couple of sheets of copier paper between the card and the cutting plate and that provided enough protection to keep the card smooth.

If you would like some more inspiration, why not hop over to the ATSM blog to see what the Team has to show you, and once your card is complete you can link it up over there.

I'd like to play along with

Thanks for stopping by.

So pretty Carol. Great job assembling the accordion card bits, it was worth it as they work so well together.
I try to keep one of my plates clear of cutting lines for this very reason, but I always manage to forget sooner or later! Your tip about the copier paper is a good one, great for die cutting inked panels too just in case it isn't quite dry! :)

Oh my word!! This is beautiful. This card would be a gift in itself!! The embossing is beautiful and I LOVE the sentiments that you used. I so know what you mean about the back of cards. I use the copier paper trick myself if I need the back of my die cut to look nice. Thank you so much for the inspiration.

Excellent work on the accordion card. Even with dies, sometimes these don't always turn out well for me. Yours looks beautiful. I like the pretty heart using the inspiration colors and what a perfectly charming get well card to brighten a recipient's day. TFS the tip about the copy paper behind the card back so that it doesn't mar from scratched plates! TFS & Hugs too.
