Gift box from The Greetery and John Next Door Penny's Baubles card

Happy New Year!!!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and if you were lucky enough to receive some new crafty goods, I hope you are having fun playing with them.

I know that we have only just finished with Christmas, but we at ABC Christmas Challenges love to make Christmas cards all through the year knowing that we won't have a last-minute panic come December. It would be great if you want to join us this year - we work our way through the alphabet over the year and each month we have some fun challenges to get your juices flowing. And did I mention that we also have a prize each month??? What's not to like as they say lol!

Our first challenge themes are

A - Anything Christmas Goes
and/or
B - Baubles

Helen is our lovely host this month and she has a great prize for the winner.

My contributions are

A for Anything Christmas Goes

This is a gift box I made with a die from The Greetery called Stationery Box. I used yellow and grey card for the box and decorated it with stamps from the Winter Birds set from My Favorite Things. I used coloured pencils for the colouring and want to practice more with them this year so any tips will be welcome.

The candy-stripe circle sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. I added little magnets to the box to keep it closed, and it contained a necklace I had bought as a gift for my daughter. I love making a gift box like this because it is very versatile and doesn't need to be wrapped. I hope to use the box dies again to make some notelet gift sets.

B for Baubles

I want to make more 5 by 7 inch cards this year and as I received the Waffle Flower Lacy Layers A7 die set for Christmas, I put them to use on this card. The bauble is from John Next Door Penny's Baubles and I inlaid the silver glitter card before adding the silver mirror elements over the top. The sentiment is from the Clearly Besotted Most Wonderful stamp set. The top layer of white card was embossed with an old texture plate from Papertrey Ink.

Having seen some of the gorgeous photo work of cards on many blogs, I tried a fancy-schmancy lie flat photo here -  haha  I think the best that can be said about it is 'needs more work' lol!!

The Design Team have lots of cards to inspire you over on the blog and it would be great to have you join us this time.

I'd like to go and play at

Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs
Carol x

Wow Carol, I am so loving your box, it is perfect for that beautiful necklace! It's fun to make your own gift boxes. I love your card too, that bauble is just gorgeous as is your card. Your photos look great, so I don't agree that your lie flat photo "needs for more". lol I think it looks great! Hugs, Brenda
