Lily of the Valley tennis birthday card

Hello everyone and I hope you are enjoying your week. Rain has stopped play for a while at Wimbledon, so I've just popped on to share a quick post of a card I made for my tennis loving daughter. Actually, we both love tennis but she is a player whilst I prefer watching these days. I've never actually been to Wimbledon ( the highlight of my  summer), even though we have entered the ballot for tickets many times, and it seems crazy to me that it is easier to get tickets for the American Open Championship than get to see our own. We have finally given up and my daughter and I will be combining a holiday to the USA with a trip to the US Open Tennis Tournament next month, and I'm starting to get very excited about it! I love tennis because it is something I used to watch with my Mum  when I was a child, and we would play in our local park. Of course we used to have a wooden racquet then and we we kept it in a press to stop the wood warping - but that is probably telling you too much about how old I am so I'll skip over that!

Here is the card:-)

I used a LOTV image and coloured with Copics, and watercoloured with distress inks. My daughter is a pale redhead (she prefers strawberry blonde!) and she looked just like this when she was younger.

I'd like to enter this into

Fabulous card...I love the geometric layers and your colouring is superb. How I wish I had her energy...and yes I too remember a wooden racket in a press! I used to play but definitely a spectator sport now!!

Oh Carol!! This is adorable!! I love how you die cut the image in matte into that shape. You did a beautiful job coloring her too. Really interesting that you could get into the American Open before Wimbledon. Actually, that does not surprise me as I do not think tennis is as popular here as other sports. I do not play, nor do I watch it. So are you making a vacation of NYC or are you traveling around the US? I wish it was earlier in August because I am about an hour and forty minutes by train and would have loved to visit with you. However, I will be back to work after a long summer vacation.

So fun that you found an image that reminds you of your daughter. I love LOTV stamps, and that is one of the main reasons! Wonderful coloring, and I love the shape of your panel!

An adorable card and love your coloring. I recently gave up playing tennis because my puppy was taking up too much of my time, but I definitely remember my old wooden racquet with the press (that had a big screw I stepped on once--I will never forget that). Enjoy the US Open!
