Papertrey Ink and Simon Says Stamp Masculine birthday card

Simply Create Too

Hello everyone,

Summer has finally arrived big time around here, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and the garden is blooming, so all is right in this part of the world! I have been humming the John Denver song 'sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy' all day and I think it does - I love how people smile and get chatty when the sun shines.

We had some wonderful entries for the last challenge at Simply Create Too with around 160 cards linked up. We love looking through all the entries and it gets harder and harder to select just a few winners. I hope you will join us for the new challenge which is is to make a masculine card. Many people will be making Father's Day cards around now but it can be for any occasion you choose. I have to admit that I really struggle with masculine cards, but I tend to stick to neutral colours and hope for the best. This is what I came up with

I made a simple square kraft card base and layered up some dotty paper cut out with a stitched square die. I placed a rectangular panel in the centre and added a couple of presents cut with the Make a Wish dies from Papertrey Ink. I die cut the Sending sentiment from Simon Says Stamps and coated it with glossy accents before placing it over the big birthday wishes stamp from Birthday Bash Sentiments (PTI). As a final touch, I stamped and fussy cut the little candle which I paced over the 'i', and put some wink of Stella glitter on the presents.

Why not pop over to the Simply Create Too challenge blog to see the inspiration my DT sisters have for you, and join with us this week.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs
Carol x

It is a great card. I used to make cards and struggled with mens cards. I struggle with buying mens cards too. Your idea to go with neutrals is a very good one I think. xx

Just borrowed this fantastic card for my boss's upcoming birthday. My stitching was diabolical and I couldn't get the thirds proportion right. I've credited you on the card but wanted to let you know much as I am pleased with it, it's not a patch on yours. Brilliant male card. xxx
